I was in my studio late last night creating this Tree of Life Necklace for the generous contributor who joined our battle against the cost of being sick. That afternoon I had found myself in the apartment of a dear friend who has been in a hospital bed and unconscious since Friday night when his heart beat got the better of him. He just turned 50 in September and we were trying to get our heads around his life, his rent and everything that he cant take care of right now and probably wont be able to take care of for some time to come. We sit in the waiting area outside his room with his mother and brothers and watch as the doctors scurry in and out. In the blink of an eye things can change very quickly. I look around at all my close friends, in the prime of our lives and I ask - do you have your papers in order? If someone had to come in and take over your affairs would they know where to start? Do you have a living will? Have you picked a Power of Attorney; how about the alternate Power of Attorney? Who should be called? Do you have pets? What do they eat? Buses run up and down the street and sometimes things just happen that we dont plan on. Take a minute and think about getting all those little ducks in a row. Even though it adds one more thing to your To Do List, someone might be really grateful if that bus comes out of nowhere one day. Thank you ALL for being so kind and supportive with our goal to help Carol through her ordeal with medical bills - your generosity is amazing.
