I was in the Central Region over the weekend with my wife and very good friend. We decided to pay a visit to the Elmina Castle, to be honest I have never visited any of such historical sights we have in Ghana. After the tour my friend asked if I felt something, if I felt the inhumane and wicked treatment our ancestors went through?, honestly I felt NOTHING! Why didnt I feel a thing. I found myself in a castle built 532 years ago and it was standing strong, structures were solid, It was amazing how that was achieved, but it was done, the Portuguese and Dutch am sure Drew inspiration from those who built Rome. It was an eyesore that we cant maintain this castle. Locks are falling off, hinges are falling off, ceiling fans are rusting, power distribution boards are rusting, loose electrical cables hanging all over the place. I am sure we have not been able to add any thing to what the Europeans put there that has survived 10 years...... they left us a castle which is 532 years, let us at least fix a broken window which can last for 50 years at least..... NB.. Receipts are not given to you when you pay for a tour at the castle. How is the money being collected accounted for?......WORD!!!!
