I was interviewed by a prospective new client today. She wanted to make sure the dogs were not waiting for hours and at the shop all day. I assured her that I dont want to keep dogs all day. I groom by appointment so that dogs can be groomed and go home as soon as possible. Yes, it does limit my ability to groom more, and yes a no show really hurts when that hour could have been filled by a established client. But, this works for me and for my landlord. No one wants a noisy groom shop. Not, me, not the landlord, and not the dogs I groom. A quiet shop, is a calm shop. I know that by appointment is different for some people when it comes to dog grooming. But when you see any other provider, service worker by appointment, you dont expect to stay all day. It isnt like you drop your son or daughter off at the hair dresser and tell them you will pick them up at 5 pm. :P
