I was interviewed this morning by Allison Latos of WSOC-TV in Charlotte. What was not in the report due to time constraints in the fact that FM Bank has refused to talk with us. We lost over 3 months, and wasted about $ 15 grand in legal fees by making untrue assertions through their attorney. The bank is quibbling over a relatively small amount of money compared to what our programs are providing. They have their own significant issues they need to resolve, and to hold our military, veterans and families hostage is completely unacceptable. Especially since the bank is headquartered in Salisbury, where a major VA hospital is located. Their recalcitrance has cost us significant dollars because of timing for sponsors. There is no guarantee this property can be sold at auction, which would make this an REO property requiring additional capital reserves by the bank, and ensures that this property would become a blighted site in the County of Richmond. Finally, the 22 veterans committing suicide every day estimated by the VA, or 35-40 per other sources, will continue to die because they will not have had the chance to utilize our facilities. All in all, the bank, and its attorney, have shamelessly held our veterans and their families hostage by not working with us in good faith despite repeated outreach by us. I never want to hear Thank you for your service from them, because it would be said without honor or conviction.
