I was introduced to megs miles by my sweet pal lashell head. I I love the idea of honoring and remembering meg in such a positive way. I have ran my whole life. I started when I was in elementary school. My dad was a long distance runner back in the 1960s and 70s,when everyone thought he was crazy. He ran until he couldnt anymore then he started walking. I decided that in 2014 I was going to run a marathon to honor him. He passed away 4 years ago in jan of 2011. Anyway I injured my right hip during my training . It took me 3 months to get the correct diagnosis. I ended up having to have emergency surgery yesterday on 12/31. I was sad to miss the marathon I had been training for but am devastated now as the orthopaedic docs do not think I will ever be able to run again. I am 55 and they think it is too much stress on a femur with 4 screws in it. No one really understands what running means to me. Running takes me back to old country roads and my dad. So if it is true and my running days are over, I want to encourage you guys to run every chance you get. They wont all be great or fun or pretty runs. But some will be all of these things. And in the end they will all be special.
