I was just at the movie premier of Cow Power. How we make and use energy is so different in each State. Not surprising Vermont "the GREEN mountain state" is way ahead of the curve on how we make and use energy in all forms. Notice how Vermont is better then most states combined! It gets complicated, but worth the read. Climate-Friendly Electricity States. In 11 states (Washington, Oregon, Connecticut, Idaho,Vermont, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, South Carolina, California, and South Dakota), the best electrics are better for the climate than any gasoline car even when manufacturing is included. In Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Vermont, a relatively clean grid already produces few carbon emissions, primarily through reliance on hydropower, nuclear, and small percentages of wind and solar. In these states, the mpg equivalents of the best electric vehicle are dazzling, ranging from more than 2,600 mpg in Vermont, to 380 mpg in Washington, 280 mpg in Idaho, and 200 mpg in Oregon.
