I was just having a conversation along these lines last night at work. Why do people think it strange that a girl likes super heroes or a boy likes dolls? Quite honestly, the kids do not think anything about boy toys and girl toys until they hear society (and often their parents) say something. When I had daycare, I did not stop kids from playing with anything they wanted to play with. There were as many girls playing trucks as there were boys and as many boys playing dolls as there were girls. (Although, I think as a general rule girls playing with trucks and toys that are considered for boys is usually more socially acceptable than boys playing with things that are considered for girls. Not sure why). To this day, Taliesin and Nathanael still love Monster High. In fact, they were just looking up the new Haunted series on Amazon last night.
