I was laughing so hard at her today I was crying. Being her first year hunting she has never been around decoys.. or their strings.. she hooked a decoy string with her back leg while we were picking up this morning. I run heavy weights so the weight stayed in place and the decoy b-lined straight at her from behind. She jumped straight in the air, like a scalded cat, clearing the knee deep water we were in. As she ran off the decoy kept pace with her. The expression on her face was complete befuddlement! After having to put down my 14 year old partner in crime last weekend I wonder why I let another dog into my life... moments like this morning watching Jersey and the decoy are exactly why.
