I was listening to Radio National this morning, as I do every Sunday morning at 5.30am, to a fantastic program made by Jordie and David Kilby called Rare Collections. They trawl through our recent musical past playing rare recordings from our local Australian musicians. This morning was a special rare treat because it featured dear friend, colleague and sometime neighbour Ash Wednesday, drawling away in his distinctive laid back manner and playing for us old recordings from JAB, the Metronomes and early Models among other works. I especially enjoyed a song sung by Karen Marks another good old dear friend and colleague. I dont remember the title of the song but it had a lyric about her coffee having gone cold. So Ash (and Karen) Great. Great story. Great music. Loved it all. Hopefully Rare Collections is one show that has escaped the Mark Scott/Abbott cuts. My Sunday mornings wouldnt be complete without it.
