I was listening to a radio programme earlier and the debate went around the exact date of Jesus birth. Alot of historical evidence was mentioned which made sense as far as the seasonal calendar is concerned but at the end of the discussion I was left with only one question on my mind…, does it really matter? Does it really matter whether Jesus was born in June or in December? Isnt the knowledge that he was born to die for our sins more important? Will our archeological knowledge about the history of the bible secure our souls salvation? or will our determination to try and use each day God has spared us to live our lives according to the teachings of the bible? Often when we try and disect Gods work to apply our human thinking we lose sight of the real importantance and beauty of it because our understanding is not his own and I don’t believe we could ever begin to understand the measure of Gods grace and love for us. His only son. Sent to die for our sins. Who could love you like this…? So maybe the real dates and times became confused over the centuries, but the birth of Christ should be thee celebration of our lives!
