I was living near Birmingham... Had been living there about 2 months. New job, new apartment, and new everything. It was a Thursday when I received my check and the lady said Youll need to call that number on the back when you get home. I called the number and told them who I was... She told me that due to recent cut backs, they just couldnt keep me. Id just signed a two year lease on the apartment and rearranged everything! Didnt know anyone and its not like being back home where you might know someone who knows someone that can help you get a job. Id never been without a job... I met Phil Ingram at the apartment complex. He was a neighbor and Id see him walking his dog often. Hed recently started dropping by to say hello. Gin and diet Coke was his choice of drink. He came by that afternoon and mixed me up a Phil Ingram. We talked about everything and he said Weve been needing someone down at the machine shop in Birmingham to drive the truck and pick up and deliver parts... Can you do it? This man was a blessing sent to me. I started that job the Monday after I lost my job on a Thursday and never missed paying a bill. I will always be thankful for Phil Ingram. I just heard that he passed away... Although most of you dont know him, we all know our own Phil Ingrams and the world is better because of those people. Rest in peace, pal.
