I was living on Baxter Avenue in Knoxville when this song came out. I had my Aunt Elmas f-hole Silvertone guitar at my house & had been playing my 3 chords for a couple of years. A guy came to visit our neighbors across the street on Mercer... and they wanted me to play & sing for him. Then, he played and sang.... Abilene.. Showed me the chords..never heard of a minor, before that evening. Cant remember anyones names from that time, but remember that summer,so well. This is one of the most smooth & most simple songs ever recorded. Remembering the song & singer today-- with a big smile. RIP George Hamilton IV https://youtube/watch?v=Q3RF3nbreBE
