I was looking over the city web site to see if there is anything of interest going on at tomorrow nights council meeting and this caught my eye: General Ordinance No. 2, 2015 Amends Chapter 39 pursuant to the Ordinance Violations Bureau 01.05.2015 First Reading - Now what is being purposed is that the Clerks office handle all collection of fees and fines from the court and the violation of city ordinances, if Im reading it correctly. I cant help but wonder why, the court clerk (S) (in 2015 the court added a part time position), handle this now with the protection of the court room, police officer always in court, or the money is brought to the police station where they can be shielded. So my question is why would you move this to the clerk and city hall, will there be an armed officer stationed at city hall from now on, or will the city employees be behind counters with glass so no one would have access. I would think that safety of the people in city hall would have to be considered, and since everything now goes through the court and the police station, it seems the safety function is in place. Thoughts?
