I was looking through a cheapo bin of DVDs, ran across one I didnt have, Casablanca, and started watching it. I had forgotten what a great movie this is; they just dont get much better. A short, low budget, war-time movie with a political agenda, cheap painted backgrounds with a couple stars and an otherwise minimal cast, but a master work. With Humphrey Bogart (Rick Blaine) and Ingrid Bergman, and a script that challenges Ricks cynicism in the name of fighting the Nazis, this remains as a master work. It has terrific cinematography, a plot that was important in 1943 but still rings true, and a consistent top 10 in all-time movie great ratings, and its amazing that the director, Michael Curtiz, who did a lot of other great flicks like The Adventures of Robin Hood, Yankee Doodle Dandy, The Sea Hawk, Kid Galahad and about 140 others, remains as an unknown director. Anyway, play it Sam, play, As Time Goes By.... Bogart never actually says, Play it again Sam. https://youtube/watch?v=7vThuwa5RZU
