I was looking through the photos on my flash drive and found this picture of Fritz when he had the issue with his eye (I made this photo up for the specialist we had to go see). I thought you guys would find it interesting. This happened so fast. One morning I woke up, fed him (this was before Eva), and took my husband to the hospital for surgery. When we got back that night, Fritzs eye was gooed shut. I raced him to the emergency vet and then followed vet appointment after vet appointment, new med after new med, until we were referred to a veterinary ophthalmologist down state. After several tests it was found that he had herpes in his eye and that a tiny scratch turned into a melting ulcer. He was on a slew of eye drops and oral meds for a very long time, until today where he is off all drops and meds and suffers from only a small scar. We were so sure he was going to lose his eye. He gets lysine now to keep his immune system up, but youd never know his eye used to look like THIS! Blessings to that amazing eye doctor. It only cost me about $800 for this scary trauma, but I was ready to pay anything.
