Having confirmed I was writing a novel, the man smiled and said: I was a builder for over thirty-five years, writing a book is similar to building a house. Why is it similar? I asked. Because I used to build houses from the foundation upwards — and I put all my money into them, not to mention my time and all my efforts. I didnt receive a penny until the house was sold. I guess you are the same when you are writing a book; you get nothing back until you have finished? Yes, I replied. And then the real work begins: You need to find a publisher.
