I was moved by this email I received from one of our @EllaCollinsInstitute family, who joined us for #Umrah2015. I see now Islam is what you make it. I made myself believe the people around me when I thought I had no place in it. I was deathly afraid of coming to Saudi which is notorious for everything I feared. But being with you guys and the sheikhs that are studying here and seeing their viewpoints Ive come to the amazing realization that, that isnt Islam. People say this, but it always sounded hollow until I saw it practiced. I feel so much better now and I feel I can indeed get the same spiritual experience the men are getting even if we are excluded from certain areas. Seeing all the women empowerment in this group is so inspiring. I dont have to go to non-muslims to find that. We have it right here. Thank you very much for a trip of a lifetime. Allah bless this sister and bless our communities to get back to loving and caring for others, making them feel truly welcomed and valued.
