I was nominated by Hayden Moore to list 10 books that have changed - TopicsExpress

I was nominated by Hayden Moore to list 10 books that have changed my life, outlook, and so on. It was a hectic weekend so it took me a bit. I think this is a pretty cool thing that social media allows us to do. It definitely beats a lot of the other things I scroll pass. Anyway, here they are, with a short reason as to why (no specific order): 1) Book of Job - In a time where I felt lost going to church with the Grussings this gave me hope and patience. 2) Battle Cry (Leon Uris) - This book taught me about honor and sacrifice. 3) Six Frigates (Ian W Toll) -This book showed me the courage of early Americans. It reinstalled my pride in being in the USN and reinforced my pariotism. 4) Divine Comedy (Dante Alighieri) - Although technically a poem, its length I feel qualifies it as a book. This taught me not follow the herd, to think and to challenge those truths that are embedded in us. 5) Inherit the Wind (Jerome Lawrence) - This book / play taught there are multiple possibilities to our existence and perhaps, just perhaps many of them are compatible. 6) The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (C.S. Lewis) - I read this book at an early age in a library (Google this structure). It taught me that magic exists. It exists in every child and should be embraced. It taught that the best place to do this was inside the wardrobe of a library. 7) Good to Great (Jim Collins) - I read this book after years of managing. It made me realize that my crazy way of thinking and managing wasnt all that crazy. 8) Seven Arrows (Hyemeyosts Storm) - History is written by the winners. This book gave me another perspective in Manifest Destiny and the birth of America. 9) Prescription for Nutritional Healing (Phyllis Balch) - Big pharm sucks. But, hey we all know that. What we dont know are the natural ways to do what they are doing. This book is great tool for those looking into homeopathic alternatives. 10) Tao of Pooh (Benjamin Hoff) - This book teaches the ways to inner peace with a different approach, Winnie the Pooh and friends. It also lets us know that theres a little Pooh in all of us. Theres a great follow up, as well: The Te of Piglet. Well, there are my 10. I think I am supposed to nominate a few people. However, to be honest I would be excited to hear what any of you have to reveal. You could just say I nominated because, well, Im nominating all of you. Cheers.
