I was nominated for the ALS Ice-bucket challenge. I now nominate Sergio Galindo, Jesus Alcantara, Miguel Zamudio, and Patrick Tibble! ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrigs Disease, is a disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. Patients diagnosed with the disease become full-body-paralysed as the disease progresses. Most patients die from paralysis complications (such as asphyxiation). This year alone, more than 5,600 Americans will be diagnosed with ALS. It is estimated that there are at least 30,000 people suffering from the disease in the US. The ALS Ice-Bucket challenge is meant to draw awareness to the disease and to raise funds for research. So far $15.6 Million have been raised thanks to the generosity of those who participated in the challenge. The way it works is, you are nominated for the challenge by a friend or family member, once challenged you have to pour a bucket of ice-cold-water over your head and/or donate $100 to the ALS Association. Among the famous who have performed the challenge are; Apple CEO Tim Cook, former President George W. Bush, Lady Gaga, and many others.
