I was not a fan of Nathans first grade teacher at first. She seemed way to hard-knox. She was all business. She goes by Doctor for pete sake. Plus all he talked about was his Kindergarden teacher and how he missed his friends. And if you remember correctly, he had a tough start with finding friends and being bullied. Fast forward to now after steadfast prayer and a belief that it WILL be okay. I had the parent/teacher conference this week and she bragged on Nathans reading, writing, and math skills. She made a joke that she kind of missed the Nathan who didnt have any friends because now they cause ruckus during carpet time. She said it jokingly and said that it made her happy to see him come out of his shell. She notices his weaknesses and shared with me how she has been going about challenging him. I appreciated that she cared enough to deal with him differently. It soothes my concern that teachers are under so much pressure to get kids to a certain test score that they arent able to dig deep and tailor to each childs needs. That is untrue. I love teachers. They really are so selfless and good people. If you are reading this and you are a teacher....I honor you today. I hope you have the best Saturday ever.
