I was on my way to Idaho a week ago and had a fun little experience getting to the N Concourse at SEATAC. In the subway a group of travelers from Africa were on the subway. They wore matching t-shirts, chattered and laughed on the short trip and were obviously enjoying the commeradary. We all get off the train and onto the escalators and here I am in the middle of them and some English spices their chatter and causes uproarious laughter....laughter that became contagious. They were laughing...then I started laughing...other people started laughing and by the time we got to the top everyone was wiping tears of laughter not knowing why. We all peeled off into different directions and to our respective gates. I had a little time to kill so went I to one of the shops. There was a display of small magnets and I scrolled through ten on their rack. I bought two that fit my sister and I and then spied one that just fit what Id experienced moments before...bought them all. Tucked into my purse were the three magnets and I headed to my gate. Before I got there however I heard the familiar chatter of the group that had been on the train and escalator. I looked to my left and there was the young woman who had been the center of the joke non of us other English speakers got but appreciated. I turned into their waiting area, walked up to her and said...I have something for you. She looked at me me like I was a bit of a nut case for a moment and then I handed her the magnet. On it was a picture of two women, exchanging a flower and in full blown laugh mode. The caption on the magnet was: the shortest distance between two people is laughter She read it thoughtfully, looked up at me with a fantastic smile, put the little magnet to her heart and said...Thank You! .....truly...the erasure was all mine...
