I was only minutes from the trailhead when I found myself surrounded by agitated moose. Beside the three female shown watching me closely in this video there was another female that had just stomped over the crest to my left and a very large male who was creeping up along the ridgeline to my left rear. Something had them very agitated, perhaps I and my puppies presence among a pride of four female with a dominate male. They began to snort and plow the ground. I remained calm but focused. I prayed out loud as I always do when I encounter wildlife, Lord Jesus, your hand is on them. I leashed my dogs and before they closed the ring on me I directly made my way out of the midst of them along the way I had come. This time I was not trapped in a closed valley as I have been before. I found another way for my predawn mountain hike. Please note. These are wild creatures and must be respected.
