I was out at Westview Cemetery in South Atlanta at lunch, today, - TopicsExpress

I was out at Westview Cemetery in South Atlanta at lunch, today, doing research for a project not related to Rich’s. Before I had left work for the visit, I looked up online the location of Dick Rich’s grave as I had never seen it and wanted to stop by and pay my respect. Once I got to the grave, it struck me that he, like his grandfather Morris – who’s buried at Oakland Cemetery (see picture on page 143 of my book), has a bench (two, actually) for people to visit and reflect upon. What a beautiful spot - the bird bath between the two benches and the serenity of the surroundings are not captured in my not-so-great photos. Once I left Dick Rich’s grave to leave the cemetery in my car, I passed by one of the several roads that loop through the grounds. Something in my “gut” told me to stop, turn around and go back down that road instead of continuing the way I was traveling. Heading in my new direction, I looked over at a row of bushes. Nestled between them was Frank Neely’s grave. I don’t think I knew he was buried in Westview. Serendipity? Lesser known to some of you, perhaps, than Dick Rich, Frank Neely was extremely important to not only Rich’s, where he was president and later chairman of the board, but also to Georgia Tech and Atlanta; see pages 89-90 in my book for more information on him. Rest in peace, Mr. Rich and Mr. Neely.
