I was out of DC plugs in the CHT shop on CV-64. We often had two or three plugs never make it back to the shop with every job. Well the DC men had them but Hey! those are for real emergencies! I came up with this as a means to get the CHENG off my back as there was one common line that was blocked up and the only clean-out was in a electronic shop space below deck...poo and computers dont mix! I used this on first 5 then 12 and eventually on 28 total shitters all at the same time and was able to clear a line without needing to cut a single DC plug. (OPS department was using brown paper towel to wipe their asses.) Fire main hammering popped a couple of my covers that I simply attributed to not being tight enough.) DC plugs do work well but often times they need trimmed to fit from off the shelf due to space restrictions. I used extra CBR gloves as the rubber material with the denim providing strength to keep the rubber from popping. Has anyone else every used this? Back in the 90s I recall all the HTs thinking it would never work but eventually I had more than a few HTs using the same trick. The more incriminating material that came back out of the line I eventually was told to double bag and take up to the OPS Os desk with the CHENG and displayed what bad boys the OPS dept was... skivvies, plastic battery wrapper and lots of brown paper towel.
