I was out walking with boys this morning. We passed a loose Boston - TopicsExpress

I was out walking with boys this morning. We passed a loose Boston Terrier and a Lab mix running around together along the sidewalk. This is pretty common, so I didnt think much of it and continued on my way. I made it up another block when I heard a loud bark and growl. I turned around to see a Boxer break open its gate and attack the Boston. He grabbed it by the neck and was shaking it in the air. His lab buddy was barking and trying to jump on the Boxer. I ran to neighboring houses, knocking n doors and ringing doorbells. No one answered. I didnt want to get close to break up the fight because I had the kids with me. I called animal control and ran home to put the kids in the car. When I drove back the lab was gone, the Boston way laying in the street and the Boxer was circling it. Whenever the Boston would try to get up the Boxer would attack him again. I honked and drove at the Boxer until it backed off. The Boston did eventually get up and wander off with what appeared to be half of his throat. The Boxer laid down in his yard like nothing happened. I drove around looking for the Boston and ran into his owner who was out looking for him. A cop arrived at the same time. I told them both what had happened. I understand that there is a large difference between dog and human aggression but I cant help but think that my kids are small and squeaky, similar to that Boston. What if we were one block slower and Hagen had been walking beside me instead of in the stroller? I have a large group of dog community friends, what are yall thoughts on the Boxer? What should happen to him or his owners?
