I was outside working on my Hoosier Cabinet project and my - TopicsExpress

I was outside working on my Hoosier Cabinet project and my wonderfully kind neighbor, Mr. Solomon, came and brought me some garden tomatoes he had gotten from a person he mows for. This is such a nice man. He push mows probably close to 10 yards during the mowing season and is always out and about talking to the neighbors. When I first moved into Jeffs house and was doing remodel work while he was working Mr. Solomon would come by and chat with me telling me he figured I needed a break. One day he brought me a homemade Pimento Cheese sandwich. Such a kind and funny man. I am telling you about him because people like him are so few and far between these days. The quote It is of little traits that the greatest human character is composed. By William Winter is a true example of him. I am so drawn to share this person with my FB people because as I watch him now toting his mower down to the our neighbor ladys yard I know this 88 yr old man is not long for this world. He told me today that he is giving up his yards at the end of this mowing season. He said he will be 89 and hes just tired. Approximately 10 yards a week. Wow. He told me once not long ago that everyone he used to know is now dead and gone. He said hes ready to join them but yet he keeps moving every day. I am sitting here with a bit of a soar back from being bent over my project sanding most of today knowing I will go right back to it when I have finished here. I have become a better person just because he is my neighbor. I want you to know about him while he is still up and around and putting people to shame who complain about their life. He took care of his wife for 8 yrs before she passed and was completely devoted to her. He is a treasure and a fountain of interesting and funny tales that he can stand and tell for hours. I know that you cant know him like my neighbors and I do, but I want you to know him before he becomes just another name on a tombstone in a graveyard. We could all benefit from being a little more Mr. Solomon and a little less Too busy running thru life and never really stopping to live it kind of people. Im trying not to run thru this life. I am blessed to have such a man of character that will take the time to stop and share himself with me. So there ya go, that is Mr. Solomon for you. I sure do hope he stops and tells me the story of the mules he used when he was a young man. The ones that would plow a field with not so much as a nod, they were trained so well. He was proud of them mules. I love that story.
