I was over at the VA the other day and was talking with a vet about common problems... the scheduling of multiple appointments in one week, the long waits, the attitudes of some that work there... etc. This vietnam vet says What do you expect from a charity hospital? CHARITY????? Is this what weve led out vets to believe? This is charity? Our vets are not receiving charity. They EARNED this. They have fought wars and lived in deplorable conditions to EARN this. To make them feel as if they are receiving charity is a horrible disservice to them. I became instantly angry that a vet could feel this way. Im still angry. We need to step up our game :(
