I was raised by the most severe aspects of demanded perfectionism - TopicsExpress

I was raised by the most severe aspects of demanded perfectionism relentlessly baited with hopes of love and/or acceptance......neither which would ever be granted. How could it, why would any conditioning, manipulative person let the donkey EVER actually eat that dangling carrot....then I discovered Adventism and its theology regarding the pursuit and practice of perfectionism. At 68 I am finally able to enjoy and celebrate myself. Without jumping through a bunch of hoops to satisy, gratify and appease others,( often selfish and increasingly demanding),desires or expectations... What a sense of delightful mercy. How can you tell if your serving or giving is well received? The appreciative will be deeply grateful and not ask/expect more....the selfish will press for more and accuse YOU of selfishness if it is not forthcoming. What is the downside of giving endlessly to the selfish if you truly want to be a loving giving person? You are facilitating and reinforcing human abuse practice....how can this be a loving response? For you or them?
