I was ran-off the road by another professional truck driver about 7 oclock this morning traveling from Oklahoma into Arkansas on I-40 E. We were approaching the truck weigh station & he was running 10 mph under the 65 mph speed limit so I pulled out into the hammer lane & proceded to pass him. I was about 1/3 of the way around him, when he started steadily drifting into my lane so I was forced to slam on the brakes, parallel the guard rail, w/mere inches to spare & lay on the air horn...& I have a train horn on my truck; its loud! He continued completely into my lane & he barely missed me...I thought, until I noticed that my fender mirror was canted @ a weird angle! I finally managed to get him to pull over after calling him every imaginative four letter word I have learned over the years...& my vocabulary is quite extensive, when Im pissed! I thought he cut me off on purpose @ first because we were approaching the weigh station & all trucks have to move into the right lane but after stopping, he apologized over & over, telling me, he had dropped his water bottle & it was purely an accident. We inspected the damages & he did crack my right front bumper & bent my spot mirror...but I thank God that I was paying attention & nobody was hurt! The ironic thing was that he was a trainer! I said, Buddy, if youre a trainer, Id hate to meet one of your trainees! These big trucking outfits are so desparate for drivers that after a trainee has 6 months experience & can shift gears w/o stalling in the middle of the highway, they can train other drivers! My God, how freakin crazy is that?! Thanks for your patience everyone & have a safe Memorial Day weekend! Be careful, there are a lot of rookies on the road these days! (I posted something simular about an hour after this occurred but decided to delete it after reviewing it & realizing how many 4 letter explicatives I had used!) lol
