I was re-reading Tony Ortegas excellent series of blog posts where he and Claire Headley go through the Bridge step by step, when I was transfixed by Claires photo - so vibrant, cheerful, and sunny - exactly the opposite of what any cult says youll become once leaving. Claire, youre a beautiful person and Im so glad you and your husband escaped! In $cientology and many other groups - including my own - leaving meant you would die, or at least be homeless, on heroin, or have horrible horrible things happen to you because youre away from the safety of the group. I was told that Id be dead by the time I reached 30 (I left at the age of 28). And yet, I cant imagine that any person still in CO$, seeing the photo of that happy woman, could say that shes doing as badly as she should be according to their dogma. In the mode of living well is the best revenge, how do you think a family photo album of SPs living well, smiling, and holding their children (that the church didnt want them to have) would affect the O.S.A? Let them know that you folks are strong, vibrant, and above all, happy that you left their cult! Although I was never in CO$, I stand with yall in love and solidarity, and offer this pic of me leading the musical part of a public worship circle, as proof to the world that its much better out than in. Divinity is free to ALL! And also proof that paganism (since we usually worship outdoors) is the only religion that requires mudproof boots.
