I was reading Psalm 139, praying it really. I looked at the DVDs in my room & asked God if anything needed to go. I looked at them for a few seconds before my eyes settled on one in particular. I picked it up & turned it over, looking at the R rating and trying to remember whether there was anything I thought was blatantly unacceptable in it. QUICK QUESTION: should what I think matter when Gods word has made HIS standard clear (Gal 5:19-21)? I looked at the front cover & it hit me like a ton of bricks: The name of the movie was SIN CITY. How many nights had I prayed to Jesus, asking to be more like him with a DVD entitled SIN CITY at my bedside, just below the Bibles on my bookshelf? 2 Cor 6:14 asks us ...what communion hath light with darkness? ...apparently on my bookshelf, the answer was plenty. Believers weve got to live life with eyes wide open. God doesnt care if Quentin Tarantino directed it or if Bruce Willis starred in it, we are called to abhor, to detest, to utterly loathe sin (Romans 12:9). THE ENEMYS DECEPTION IS SUBTLE. There are no pacts between lions and men (1 Peter 5:8). The devices of the enemy are wicked & have no place in our lives. They exist only to destroy us (John 10:10).
