I was reading about Samson in the Book of Judges and one - TopicsExpress

I was reading about Samson in the Book of Judges and one particular portion of scripture just seem to speak to my spirit. In Judges Chapter 16, Samson has fallen in love with a woman, whose name is Delilah. I have read this passage of scripture many times, but this night I believe God brought it to my attention to mull it over. As I read the story, the Philistines have come to Delilah asking her to find the source of Samsons strength, for 1100 pieces of silver. My first thought is, if she was truly in love with him, she would have never agreed to this deal, but in verses 6-9, she asks him the source of his strength, in which, he tells her a lie. When the Philistines come to take him, they cannot, because he has not told Delilah the true source. In verses 10-14, Delilah once again, seeks the answer to his strength, but again, Samson tells her a lie. The same process takes place with the Philistines and they cannot overtake him. Now in verse 15-17, she touches a place in his heart with these words, ...How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? At that point, Samson tells her the true source of his strength and this time when the Philistines come, they overtake him, putting out his eyes (verse 21). The point that I want to make is that after the first time, why did he not realize that she was trying to hurt him? Some would say it is because he was so overwhelmed with his love for her, that he could not believe that she would deceive him. We must realize there are times the enemy will use those closest to us, to bring destruction in our life. We must always be aware of the evil devices of Satan. Just as Delilah sold Samson for 1100 pieces of silver, Judas Iscariot sold Jesus Christ for 30 pieces of silver. Judas walked with the Lord for 3 1/2 years and still betrayed the Master. Nothing is worth our soul. Scripture does not tell us what Delilah did after she received her blood money, but we know that Judas went out and hung himself. We need to know to whom we belong to and if our commitment to God is pure, holy, and righteous. Would you sell Jesus for 30 pieces of silver????? Yet, we sell those that are closest to us, when we are angry. Think About It!!!!!!!!!!!!!
