I was reading some quick stuff this morning over mango and watermelon and starbucks...from the July August issue of BirdWatchers Digest (for the record, I am not birdwatcher...but I do listen to them when they sing)...this in pretty interesting stuff (yeah, right)....Rice farms are becoming a new fave spot for migrating birds in the USA as a lot of wetlands have been destroyed over the years....American rice production generates more than $1.5 billion in annual income at the USA farm level. Although USA accounts for less than 1% of world rice production it accounts for approximately 17% of the world rice market. Get that number??? It is a worldwide EXPORT>>>>and it goes to Mexico, Japan, Ghana, Costa Rica and Canada!) 85% of rice consumer in USA is grown in the USA....get that...an American product, made in America...whooopeee..and we thought this stuff only came from Asia! I live next to a huge wetland area....but its not warm enough here to start my own rice farm...darn.....
