I was reading through chapter 7 of Mathew this morning and as I read verse 24 through 27 the Holy Spirit had me read it over and over. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. As I read this and meditated on it, in my mind I began to visualize what this would look like in the natural. I began to see two houses, one on a large rock and one on sand like the sand you see at a beach. It began to rain. The water began to collect and form a flowing river around the houses foundations (a rock and a sandy base). The wind was blowing fairly hard. My attention was mainly on the flowing river of water flowing on the houses foundations. The harder the water flowed there was no movement of the rock. The sand foundation was a different story. The sand foundation was quickly being reformed by the flowing water. It was being eroded way and was no match for the power of the water. Finally the structural integrity of the sand foundation gave way and the house was totally swept away and gone completely. Now all that was left was the rock foundation and the house perfectly intact and safe. I heard the Holy Spirit say look close at the rock! I looked at the rock and it was beginning to change also. The rock began to get smoother and smoother. The smoothness began to bring out its natural colors. The smoother it got the more vivid the colors that were hidden under its once rough surface were revealed. It began to be shiny and almost reflective. The Holy Spirit was trying to show me that we as children of a loving Father will undergo testing of many sorts. Theses testing are to show us what in our lives is Kingdom (Rock) and what is our own personal will (sand). When the testing comes we need to pay close attention to the things we think we are founded on and how they react to the testing. During testing if things around us crumble or has to have constant repair or we pour into something and it still want stand, we may need to consider what foundation it’s sitting on. A foundation of flesh will quickly erode, yield to opposing forces and ultimately fail. The foundation of rock which is the will of God appropriated in our lives not just listened to, will always withstand testing. The thing to remember as we go through testing is to watch closely the effect of the testing on our foundation. If the foundation gets shaken quick and easy it might be a rebellious, foolish, fleshly foundation that has heard the voice of the Lord but didnt put it in action. It’s awesome to notice that the foundation of rock did change but its glory or image increased! Its surface became smooth and no longer rough. Its inter beauty began to come forth. It became shinny and reflective. When a foundation of the Kingdom of God comes under a testing, the foundation will excel, it will be comfort to all involved not rough and hurtful, and will shine and reflect Jesus! I feel as for me, this is a time of discerning in my life what is Kingdom and what is just me! For the next few months, with the help of the Holy Spirit, I am going to let Him show me what needs to go and what needs to stay. What to build on and what to stop feeding that was not His will to start with. I hope this revelation brings hope and understanding to all who read it and we move forward on solid foundations of the Lord and shine and reflect His heart to all we know and come in contact with.
