I was really looking forward to this cover when I saw it posted last night but after hearing now I feel it missed the mark, so Ive decided to write a really honest review below; bayharbour - Breaking The Habit (Linkin Park Cover) First up its always a very brave thing to do to cover a Linkin Park song, they are one of those very unique legacy bands with a sound thats hard to capture, and even if you do its going to be open to some pretty extreme critisism from their fan-base so no matter what the results, Bayharbour have made a bold move here with this cover. Immediately into the song the whole production sounds crowded with no real throw-backs to the original song or melodies and its difficult to tell what this is a cover of without reading the title, or if its just a new Confession song. By 0:45 Im already bored with this driving kick beat starting to get real repetitive and so far the song has no real reference or relevance to the original for me to latch onto. By 0:48 we finally get some melodic throwback to the original song but by this point the complete lack in dynamics is making the song hard to listen to and the chorus isnt special at all in this version. The fact that this is the only real melodic reference we have to the original song and that its just a background melodic gang vocal make it hard to latch onto or get excited about. Then at 1:14 its more of the same grind where you can barely tell what song theyre trying to cover again. The song then continues to NOT change in colour or dynamics, not even once for the remainder of the track. Overall this did not capture the key elements of the original track that made this song special and smothered it in guitar lead that are also not particularly relevant to the original song either. Ignoring the key vocal hooks and melodies that make Breaking The Habit such a love-able and addictive song causes this cover to completely miss the mark. https://youtube/watch?v=Q2E00N3JwLY&feature=youtu.be
