I was recently cast as the lead in a feature shooting out in NY - TopicsExpress

I was recently cast as the lead in a feature shooting out in NY that I was very excited to be a part of. A couple of days ago, I backed out of the project. Although an actor first and foremost, I take my job as a producer very seriously as well, especially when Im working with others that rely on me. For that reason, I decided to back out of the feature. We are knee deep in pre pro for a BIG project that requires the attention of all us that are attached. No way I could have pulled my weight while carrying the lead on a feature that was being shot out of state. So that was that. I was talking to close industry friend(a director) last night about this very topic, as he had just recently made a similar decision. He asked me if I regretted my choice, I paused and searched for the answer then realized, I didnt have one. I told him I honestly dont know, I probably wont know for perhaps a year or even longer. I did feel better after talking about this with someone who could understand/appreciate my dilemma. This situation already turned out to be a positive, regardless of the outcome of my choice, it was a reminder of how tough this business can be and how valuable your peers/friends in the business are. Not because they might get you a leg up for a gig, not because they might be a networking asset, just the friendship - the unity... the bond of working professionals that share the same highlights as well as the same challenges. I was reminded of my own words, no rear view mirrors needed, the train does not stop, regardless of the passengers, it must continue forward. I do genuinely love what I do, and I love and appreciate those that I do it with. #StrengthinUnity #NonstopMovingForward
