I was recently invited to a wedding ceremony at one of the prestigious halls in Nairobi i was caught completely off guard and to my surprise non of the activities taking place were according to the Islamic tradition and culture, they were purely progeny and exemplar of western weddings from dressing to food and entertainment, girls were nearly naked with tight dresses clearly showing all their curves and more so their tight upfront two ridges, one could image if this was Hollywood awarding ceremony, more like that of royal weddings in the Uk or a beauty contest, all the aforementioned were just a tad of the activities taking place ,things went from bad to worse when loud music filled in every corner of the hall and both gender started mixing, one who is prudent can foresee what is to happen, in a while when the music reached its peak girls and boys were holding hands playing according to the rhythm of the music making funny movement, at this juncture girls were the center of everything(interest) even the non-players starting participating imaginary in one way or another. some were attentively busy looking at the girls who displayed their beauty from dressing to make ups, At this point i was preoccupied with thoughts having new this kind of mushrooming habits is far from the religious teachings .In my view Islamic weddings were meant to be simple and modest.The current trends in which guests are entertained with music until late hours ,mixing of gender, serving in extravagant food and drinks are all indication of decaying culture and traditions of the Islamic community, All these ill borrowed evils deprives the couples the mercy of Allah hence sheytan dwells in our soul right from the first night.Then when we give birth to a near satanic kid,we forgot how the foundation of our marriage stone was laid down. Methinks we have still ample time to reflect on this and change something for the future otherwise we are doomed in the future though many girls on my list (FB) are all craving to have such wedding and see me as awkward and uncivilized , all the same goodnight folks until tomorrow inshaAllah!!
