I was recently nominated by Todd MacLean to list 15 movies that will stay with me the rest of my life. Im going to interpret that as as movies that I really like and/or have influenced me in some way. I was stuck on 16 for awhile, but decided Id watch the the one I ended up cutting (Pump up the Volume) as a consolation prize on Friday night with Nicki. In NO particular order: * Falling Down (1993) - a good movie to watch when youve reached your wits end * Election (1999) - started my (ongoing) love affair with Reese Witherspoon * Mr. Hollands Opus (1995) - He made a good choice not to follow the girl to Hollywood. She ended up on Yes Dear. * Heathers (1988) - I knew a lot of Heather types in high school. A lot of Martha Dump Trucks too. * Psycho (1960) - I think I love the soundtrack just as much * School of Rock (2003) - Cheesy? Yup, but I still like it a lot * Dead Poets Society (1989) - Yes, hes dead, but this was a favorite of mine long before * The Back to the Future Trilogy (1985, 89 & 90) - 3 movies I can watch at anytime, any day and theyll always be fun * October Sky (1999) - Inspirational * Forest Gump (1994) - Fun to watch, fun to imitate * King Kong (1933) - The scene when they tie the girl up for him to come and take was the scariest thing for a 5 or 6-year old to see. * The (original) Star War Trilogy (1977, 80 & 83) - I grew up playing with all of the figures and space ships. Not a big fan of the newer ones, though. * Its a Wonderful Life (1946) - Dana Carvey on SNL headed an alternate ending where a lynch mob leaves Georges house and tracks down Mr. Potter. It shouldve made the final cut. * Office Space (1999) - Something I can relate to *Ferris Buellers Day Off (1986) - I wish Mathew Broderick wouldve done a 2nd movie where his son or daughter takes a day off. Rooney could still be principal. With that, Ill take the easy way out and nominate Nicki to list her 15.
