I was recently traveling to a conference and listening to a message (Ravi Zacharias) about prayer when he made a statement in which the Holy Spirit captured my attention…. “When we pray, our faith will carry us. If not, we’ll have to carry our faith and quickly be exhausted.” In that part of the message, the speaker said, three things happen when we pray: #1 We recognize God is sovereign. As we address Him as Heavenly Father, Holy God, Eternal God…. We realize that He is sovereign, not us. #2 When we confess any sin in our heart, we are changed as we see ourselves as we really are. Unless we’re transparent with God, our prayer becomes nothing more than showmanship. As we’re transparent, God changes us. #3 When we pray, our faith will carry us. If not, we’ll have to carry our faith and quickly be exhausted. As we pray, we become what God intends us to be. Without prayer we can’t remain close to Him. PRAYER – make it a Priority. Without prayer, we can’t stay close to HIM. After returning home from the conference, I looked at one of the icons in church history (Leonard Ravenhill) and found the following statement. The SELF-SUFFICIENT do not pray The SELF- SATISIFIED will not pray The SELF-RIGHTEOUS cannot pray. No Man is greater than his prayer life. Leonard Ravenhill
