I was reminded last night of why I love to be a part of the Philly - TopicsExpress

I was reminded last night of why I love to be a part of the Philly music scene. I got to meet one of my childhood idols, and personally tell him he is one of the reasons I got into, and stayed with, this craziness for as long as I have. I was at a rehearsal studio yesterday evening, and I was walking up stairs, I hear some familiar music coming from one of the studios...and its the music of the Dead Milkmen. Ive been to this studio in the past and have heard them rehearsing there before. But Im not the type to impose on anyone, so I wouldnt go out of my way to say anything to them..you know...the, Im a huge fan, blah blah blah...let me make a fool of myself...type stuff. But, chance had it that I did get to meet Dean Sabatino last night outside of the studio. I got to tell him that when he got married years ago, that my mom was the office manager of the judges office where he had to get his marriage license and that somehow, my mom knew that I loved them back then (I was still in high school), and she got him to sign his autograph for me. I thought this was a cool story to tell dude 25 plus years after the fact, still a fan of their music, and essentially, Im at this studio all these years later because of guys like him. Super down to earth, very nice guy, and pretty sure, he was genuinely amused at my story! I love the Philly scene!! Its alive and well and filled with great people and tons of talent.
