I was saddened to read about the passing of longtime Illinois horseman, Clarence Jacobs. I never really knew Mr. Jacobs, but I sure knew of him. Specifically his connection to a pacer that raced mostly in the 70s, that being Gays City Traveler. It mattered not the ability of any trainer who had this horse, because once he was back being trained & driven by Mr. Jacobs, this horse would always win, on first asking, and almost always at a price - - and this happened several times. I dont know what the key to this horse was, but Mr. Jacobs CLEARLY had it! Thank you for the memories Sir - - may you Rest in Peace - - youre back with your old friend!
