I was saying to my mother tonight that there are times in our nations history when a surge of awareness and learning rushes over us. Where, previously we had little or no knowledge because it seemed unimportant or unnecessary to know, we suddenly found a flood of information, questions, answers and more information coming at us. We become hungry for knowledge related to a specific issue. It is at those times when we are taught by those already in the know, the following: 1) Our rights 2) Our Constitution 3) How Central Government works 4) How Local Government works 5) Procedures - as they relate to how the governments actions impact upon us I have observed that there have been just two times when this leap in learning and understanding has occurred. And they both happened when the United National Congress was in government - 1995 to 2001 and 2010 to now. It is also clear that the surge in national awareness is what follows whenever the government sought to tamper with or change irrevocably, our rights and freedoms as enshrined under the Constitution, or, to give themselves or their friends some advantage through obfuscated legislation. So if nothing else, having the UNC in office is good for just two things… to forcibly teach us things we should be aware of… and, to demonstrate why we should NEVER ever, EVER, have these crooks occupy elected office, whether opposition or government.
