I was shocked to hear about the passing of one of my musical mentors, Maestro Lorin Maazel. Maestro Maazel invited me to be his first soloist when he became Music Director of the New York Philharmonic. We did a world tour together shortly after that. I will always be grateful to him for believing in me, and I will miss him always. My thoughts go out to his family today, but I hope that they take comfort knowing that his music will live in all of our hearts forever.
