I was sitting at The Coffee Shoppe this morning just before the crack of dawn. My Bible was open, my spoon in my porridge, while in my spirit I crossed the Jordan, totally captivated by the leadership and teaching skills of God as He intricately prepared the masses of Israel to live successfully in their new homeland. I looked up just after Joshua planted 12 stones in the middle of the dry river bed to see this 50-ish woman in blue scrubs looking at me. I like the book you are reading there, Chaplain, which surprised me until I remembered the give-away gold star and name contrasted against my black shirt. We chatted a moment with the instant fellowship that only fellow believers can share. The stranger finished putting a lid on her coffee, stopping in front of me before leaving and said, I want to bless you before I go, and without hesitation she quoted Numbers 6:24-26 perfectly, The Lord bless you, and keep you; The Lord make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance on you, And give you peace.’ In all my life, the only other person who ever gave me that blessing (and she gave it every time I stepped in something new) was - my mother! God gave this blessing to Moses, telling him to give it to Aaron, so he in turn could bless the people as they were ready to enter a new life in their journey of faith. Will there be a pile of stones in my driveway in the morning too?
