I was sitting in my mums shop this afternoon when an Alfa that use to sell recharge card for her came to meet her. He told my mum that she should be careful and vigilant when anybody comes to buy a recharge card from her. He said that there was a man who came to buy recharge card from him not long ago (The Alfa use to sell in bulk). He said when he gave the man the #200 MTN that he demanded for, the man returned it and demanded for #100 MTN. He said that he collected it and gave him the #100 voucher. He said the man now gave him back the #100 voucher and said that he should be sorry that he should bring the previous #200 voucher. As we all believe that customer is always right, Alfa changed it for him. The man said that he just wanted to send the card to someone hence his been confused as to which to send. Alf a collected his money and the man left. To Alfas surprise, every other person that bought out of the remaining card in his hand could not load them. The message they are receiving was that the card has been loaded. That was how the Alfa lost more than #10,000. He did not tell anybody because what happened was not clear to him not until last week that the same thing happened to three other people selling recharge card and their description about the man was the same. Even it was the same method he was using to dupe them. Now people were at alert maybe the man would be caught. I was just looking at the Alfa as he was explaining with bitterness in his voice. The only thing l could tell my mum was to stop selling the card for now. Where are we going in this world????
