I was so sad to wake up to the news that Britain lost a comic genius yesterday. Rik Mayall was an integral part of my childhood. I remember gossiping in the school yard with my then best friend Tina Key about the previous nights episode of The Young Ones then later being entertained by hilarious Bottom, the classic BlackAdder, the utterly funny The New Statesmen and Drop Dead Fred (Man that film is funny!) - you laughed because it was so wrong lol. And so much more... He was the first to change comedy as we knew it and bring about new comedians whom we watch and love today such as Ade Edmonson, Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French and Ben Elton to name but a few. But since he bounced on to our screens he had us rolling with laughter he will be sadly but fondly missed!
