I was somewhat disgusted at the fact of what some parents are teaching their children nowadays. Sitting at a coffee shop, enjoying a plate of noodles, I happen upon a young couple with a young son. Waiting for their food to come, the kid tapped away at his iPhone while having a tablet on his lap, waiting to be played the moment the phone batteries go flat. Soon the waiter brought the food to them and before the waiter got out of earshot, she exclaimed to her son, Darryl, remember to be hardworking. Dont become like that person (referring to the waiter). Only stupid and lazy people have to work like that. So dirty and smelly. No class. Without averting his eyes from the phone, he just nods his head. The waiter just headed back to the kitchen, head hung low, ready to get the next order. I felt a nerve popped on my neck. Such insolence. In all my life, my parents have always taught me to see everyone as equals, to never discriminate, to never oppress. Every fibre in my body wanted to strangle them. But violence was never a solution. Paying the bill, I left a tip for the waiter in person, personally thanking him for the impeccable service. On a more serious note, if you are planning to teach your child that way, please do the world a favour and dont reproduce. Thank you so much.
