I was strolling Loverboy and ran into two women from the neighborhood. We got into a discussion about the Southwest Light Rail boondoggle. They were against it, of course. Everyone is unless they have an agenda that has nothing to do with providing people transportation, like pleasing political cronies and getting paid off by developers. But, that said, they really dont believe it could happen so they havent been letting political leadership know their opinions. Too many apathetic people who are against this. So they dont make their voices known. They assume that common sense will prevail. (HA!) They agreed this whole thing has been horrible mismanaged, few people ride light rail now, and that not everyone from the burbs works downtown and vice versa. One woman referenced a friend in the burbs who said, Why dont they just run an extra bus out here? I wish I could be so confident that this boondoggle will end. And these women own property in the area, so Im surprised by their laid-back attitude. I hope they arent in for an ugly shock.
