I was surprised that 360 pairs of athletic shoes were in the back of a panel van. Thanks to Shoe Carnival for their on time delivery this morning. A big thank you to the Evansville location and corporate Shoe Carnival for providing communities athletic shoes at a reduced cost which enables us to help more children. Almost all local committees use Shoe Carnival as their shoe supplier. At least two use a local shoe store and support a local business. Thanks to our Family Resource Directors for helping identify the children. Founder Jerry Baird and Janet Gill local chair thank the committee and volunteers today who helped deliver and fit shoes: :Ben and Rose Shouse, Johnnie and Donna Clements, Sue Bryant, and Brenda Stenger. The whole group thanks the youth of Bethany Baptist Church for their donation of socks. The smiles on the faces of the children as they tried on new socks and shoes are priceless. The comment heard over and over was, Can I wear them today? and of course the answer was yes. Some shoes were not the correct size and will be exchanged for the proper size. Those students will get their shoes next week. Someone will personally return these at the same time to Evansville and get the correct size. The last thank you and the biggest THANK YOU goes to the local businesses and individuals who have donated money so that the students can get these new shoes. Union County you are awesome. Janet Gill
