I was tagged by Alvis to post the top ten books that have influenced me. It was tough but I think I have them nailed down but in no particular order. In case it wasnt obvious, I love science fiction. 1. A Miracle of Rare Design - Mike Resnick 2. The Illustrated Man - Ray Bradbury 3. Stranger In a Strange Land - Robert Heinlein 4. Johnny Got His Gun - Dalton Trumbo 5. Replay - Ken Grimwood 6. Gateway - Frederik Pohl 7. 1984 - George Orwell 8. War of the Worlds - H.G. Wells 9. Angelas Ashes - Frank McCormick 10. Why I Am Not a Christian - Bertrand Russell 8 and 2 opened up the door of my imagination when I was young. My world changed forever. 7 is a book Ive read more times than I can remember and I always get something out of it. 3 and 10 taught me that its okay to question cultural and intellectual traditions. Thou art god. 4 made me sob like a baby. Its an inoculation for violence and war. 1 is a beautiful story of a man who becomes more when he realizes he is the cumulation of every experience hes had with dozens of alien cultures. 6 and 9 may seem weird to group together but both are all about doubt, regret, love, and learning to remember to keep moving - embrace all the pieces of you including the broken ones. 5 is all about a vital lesson that every moment is a new opportunity to start over. Sorry for the long post but I could go on and on about books I love. Thanks for reading! Id like to challenge Jeff, Oscar, Josh, Jolly, Jessica, and Stu. Id love to add at least one new book from everyones top ten. :)
